Letting someone else take the wheel..
Driving shenanigans
I have to admit that I like being in control, that being said, teaching my kids how to drive has been really difficult, well not even teaching them but having them practice. In Texas when you turn 15 you can take a course and get your permit, that permit allows you to start driving accompanied by an adult with driving experience, as soon as you turn 16 if you have x amount, I can’t remember how many, of experience driving hours you can take your driving test to obtain a drivers license. My son asked to get the course the day he turned 15, he said he wanted to get his permit as soon as possible to get his drivers license as soon as he turned 16. The day he turned 16 he hadn’t even started said course so he didn’t even have his permit. Some of his friends started driving so I guess he got a bit motivated and finally decided to do the course and get his permit. As with my daughter I told the hubby that I would not have him drive me anywhere until he told me he was kinda ready. The day came when he was ready, he was actually very ready and now he is driving me places to get the hours and experience. I haven’t struggled as much as I did with my daughter, would like to think I am starting to let go of the need to control everything, but I still struggle a bit. It’s a work in progress 😉
